Dear Dean,
My cute boy! You have grown so much this month. At the very beginning of the month, it seemed like you and I just started to click. It was as though you grew up over night and I could tell exactly what you wanted. And I just fell even more in love with you.
You didn't cry that much this month, unless it was for a reason. If you were hungry, tired, bored, or uncomfortable from gas, then you would definitely let us know. That's not to say that you didn't have a few moments where we couldn't figure out what you needed. Daddy would try to comfort you and do all the things that mommy would do--like rock you, snuggle you, or sing to you. But sometimes, all you wanted was Mommy. (I would make you apologize to Daddy when this happened. Poor guy.)
You got a bad case of baby acne this month. You had cradle cap as well. We felt awful for you. We even went to the doctor to check it out. She said it was normal and gave us some suggestions for how to fix it. Luckily, we were able to get rid of it quick. You got a bath almost every day and you really started to love bathtime. You rarely cried in the bath, unless we had to scrub your head to get the cradle cap out. I think your dad and I really enjoyed your bathtime. You had your two month check up on December 20. Your doctor thinks you are really cute! You weighed 13lbs 6oz and measured 23.5" long. You are growing so fast! You are getting bigger and stronger all the time. You also got your shots that day. You did such a good job. You barely cried--just for about 10 seconds for each one. You got really uncomfortable that night though and needed some Tylenol to get rid of the pain. You were just fine the next day though.
You are doing lots of things this month that I want to remember. I wish I could just video tape the whole thing. Here are some of the things I want to tell you about: You play with your hands ALL the time. You are a crazy eater sometimes and make such a mess. Sometimes I have to make you wait a couple minutes to calm down because you get so crazy. You are starting to look around more and more. You can follow people around the room with your eyes. You are starting to recognize noises and look around the room until you find the source. You have a love/hate relationship with tummy time. Sometimes you are content and will pick your head up. Other times you would rather just suck on your hands with your head on the floor. When you are finished, you cry and let us know you are done. We keep doing it though because it is making you so strong! Towards the end of this month, you have started to like your play mat a little more. You like to look at the lights and the animals, but not for too long. You get bored with that pretty easily. You are still sleeping in our room. I really like having you close by. You have gotten to be a much better sleeper! You are still smiling when you fall asleep and wake up. It is too cute. You wake up to eat at about 3am, 6am, and 9am. You have always wanted to eat about every three hours. We have a good routine going and you seem pretty happy. Your grandma and grandpa have watched you a couple of times. Your dad and I went to the store and to dinner once. We tried to stay out longer to give your grandparents some time to play with you, but I can't be away too long because you need to eat. You got your first bottle of breastmilk this month. You ate just fine and really seemed to enjoy it. We have to get you used to the bottle for when I go back to work. It seems to be going well so far, but you don't get it very often!
The funnest thing this month has been dressing you up in cute outfits. You have met so many of our friends and family. We try to dress you in a new outfit each time you meet new people. It makes it so fun! You have gotten a lot of clothes as gifts from people, so I am not sure how you'll be able to wear each thing before you get too big! We retired all of your newborn clothes this month and started on three month clothes, so you have plenty of room to grow right now.
It was so fun to decorate for Christmas this year. I was excited for
you to have your first Christmas tree. Your dad and I put you in your
swing and had you watch while we decorated the tree. You fell asleep.
Haha! Everything is so new and fun to do with you. We took you to see Santa Claus. I asked you what you wanted for Christmas while we were in line waiting and you didn't say much. When I told Santa that you couldn't think of anything you wanted, he said he would bring you the whole world. And what do you know, you got a globe!! It was such a perfect gift. You've got so much life ahead of you and you can do anything you want. You've got the world at your fingertips. I hope you always remember that.
On Christmas Eve, we went to visit your Grandpa's side of the family. You got to meet your mom's Aunt Brenda, cousin Joey, Sarah, and Caity. We also went to Sheri and Joe's house to meet our family friends. You turned two months old on Christmas Day. We opened stockings and gifts at home with just you, me, your dad, and Oscar. You got lots of teething toys, books, and toys to play with. After that, we went to your grandparents' house for the day. Your dad took lots of great pictures. You had a super cute outfit--another sweater vest! You were happy ALL day. You got to play with your cousins and family. Everyone wanted a chance to hold you. And you soaked up every minute. Your Auntie Tina had a cold and was really disappointed that she couldn't play with you. I felt so sad for her, but we all wanted to make sure you stayed healthy. After a long day of fun and loves, we went home and snuggled for a little bit. Your first Christmas was perfect.
I can't believe you are already two months. I think the time is going by too fast. You are so cute. I could stare at you all day. I wish I could snuggle you all the time too. We are really enjoying you. Your dad loves to mess with you and play with you all the time. No one can make you smile like your daddy can. You make our lives so full of love. We love you.
Happy two months, Dean!
Love,
Mom
