Jerry and I were really excited to find out whether or not we were having a boy or a girl. Neither of us were wanting one over the other, so we were happy with whatever the outcome was. When we went in for our ultrasound, the tech asked if we wanted to know the sex. I explained to her that I really was hoping to find out and that I had told the baby that they'd be grounded if they didn't show me the goods. She told me that she couldn't promise anything and that it wasn't even 100% if she could see something. We started the ultrasound and this is the first thing we saw:
There was no denying that this was all boy! I should mention that when my sister saw this picture, she didn't notice the arrow and thought that the leg above was the man-goods. Boy, would that be crazy. My uncle said if that were the case that he would have a very successful career in the adult entertainment industry. We all got a good laugh out of that one--even my grandma. =)
I had talked to Jerry about having a gender reveal party before we had found out the sex. He was less than excited about the idea to say the least. He thought it was stupid to have a party and didn't understand why we couldn't just say that it was a boy. Why throw a party for that? He had never heard of a gender reveal party! Can you sense my annoyance? I asked him if I had asked if we could have a BBQ to tell our friends and family that it was a boy if that would be have made a difference because that's what it was!! I may have pouted for a while and he eventually said it was fine. He even got into the idea and really thought it was cool after a while! =)
We invited a bunch of our friends and family to my parents house for the big reveal. The idea was inspired by something that I saw on Pinterest. We asked each guest if they thought it was a boy or a girl and gave them blue or pink necklaces, respectively. It was fun to see what everyone thought. Most people thought it was a boy, so many that I actually ran out of blue necklaces! =)
It was a really fun get together. Like I said before, this boy was already surrounded by lots of love before he was even born. I remember standing on the lawn waiting to open the box. Everyone was on the lawn and the decking looking down at us. It was amazing to see how many of our friends and family came together for this special moment. It was truly something that I will always remember.
Here are a few pictures from the day:
